Hornet EVO is Tamiya’s modern tribute to one of the most iconic RC buggies ever. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Hornet from 1984, Tamiya has updated the classic with modern technology while preserving the familiar look, the slim bathtub frame, and the legendary driving fun.

You get a 1/10 electric 2WD buggy kit with full ball bearings, oil dampers, independent suspension on all four wheels, and a robust polycarbonate body – perfect for both nostalgic Tamiya fans and new drivers who want a fun and reliable buggy.

Classic Hornet design – now with modern driving characteristics

Hornet EVO retains the timeless single-seater buggy shape, but the chassis has been updated to today’s standards:

• Slim ABS bathtub frame with low-mounted battery for good balance
• R/C equipment and battery are protected inside the chassis frame
• 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension for better grip and stability
• CVA oil dampers for more controlled driving on rough surfaces
• Full ball bearings for a more efficient and durable drivetrain

The result is a Hornet that still looks like the original – but drives significantly more refined, especially on loose surfaces and bumpy tracks.

Hornet EVO is built to be both fun and robust:

• Lightweight and well-balanced chassis with inline battery in the bottom for a low center of gravity
• 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension (front and rear)
• Upper I-arms / turnbuckles
• Lower H-arms
• CVA oil dampers front and rear for smooth and controlled damping
• Adjustable camber via turnbuckle upper arms, allowing you to fine-tune steering grip
• Rear-mounted motor in a sealed gearbox for better protection against dust and dirt
• Built-in 3-bevel differential gear for smooth and stable cornering traction

Wheels, tires, and body

Hornet EVO combines classic Hornet style with functional upgrades:

• 3-piece wheels front and rear
• Front: ribbed tires for precise steering
• Rear: high-grip spike tires for strong traction on dirt and gravel
• 0.7 mm polycarbonate body – light, strong, and impact-resistant
• Body shape is the same as the classic Hornet (Item 58336)
• Updated stickers/flame logos in celebration of the 40th anniversary
• “40” marking on the decals as a reference to the Hornet’s 40-year anniversary
• Driver figure included for cockpit detailing
• Two types of wheel hubs included, so you can mount various Tamiya Hop-Up wheels and tires

Hornet EVO comes as a classic Tamiya assembly kit, but with motor and ESC included:

• Tamiya Type 540 motor included
• Fully ball-raced drivetrain from the start – no extra bearing set needed

You only need to add radio system, servo, and battery, and you’re ready to drive.
